Understanding the results
Enter 25 for 25%, not 0.25. This tool uses nonnegative input amounts. Percentage change requires a positive original value; a new value of zero is allowed.
Percentage change is relative to the original amount. It is different from a percentage-point change between two rates.
Markup is calculated from cost. Gross margin is calculated from selling price. For example, a 25% markup on a cost of 100 produces a selling price of 125 and a gross margin of 20%.
Currency formatting is used for discounts and markups. Currency selection changes denomination only, not exchange value. Prices exclude taxes, fees, and other costs.
Calculations retain full precision internally. Displayed numbers are rounded, so displayed breakdowns may differ slightly when added together. Very small nonzero results are shown in scientific notation rather than as zero.
